Pioneertown - "How The West Was Once"
Pappy & Harriet's Pioneertown Palace is a legendary high desert biker honky tonk, located right at the eastern end of town. It serves food from 11- 10 p.m. There is an indoor and outdoor stage. This is an all ages venue with a full bar and kitchen. On the wall, you will see a copy of Cracker's gold record Kerosene Hat, which Cracker and producer Don Smith recorded in the now-closed sound stage next to the Palace.
Pioneertown was originally built in the 1940s for movies - Westerns. The town still maintains its "old west" look and feel. A local theatrical company stages mock gunfights most Sunday afternoons.
Pioneertown is located about 5 miles from Yucca Valley. It is in a valley in the mountains above Yucca Valley. The scenery is stunning, and just as good as anything you might see in Joshua Tree National Monument. There are a multitude of hiking, biking, and offroad vehicle trails nearby. Bring some toys.
The weather is desert-like. In September the days will be in the upper 90s and the nights will be in the 60s. The average rainfall for the month of September is about half an inch.
Southern Cal is teeming with high-desert resorts, Indian gaming, and luxury spas.
